LI 1

Location

On the radial side of the index finger, about 0.1 cun posterior to the corner of the nail.

Indication

Toothache, sore throat, swelling of the submandibular region, numbness of the fingers, febrile diseases with anhydrosis, loss of consiousness.

Notes

Allaies fever from body-surface, cleans lung, benefits the pharynx

LI 2

Location

On the radial side of the index finger, distal to the metacarpal-phalangeal joint, at the junction of the red and white skin.

Indication

Sore throat, facial palsy, epistaxis, dizziness, toothache, pain in the shoulder and arm, febrile diseases.

Notes

Disperses pathogenic heat, benefits the throat

LI 3

Location

When a loose fist is made, the point is on the radial side of the index finger, in the depression proximal to the head of the second metacarpal bone.

Indication

Sore throat, lower toothache, eyeache, dry mouth, epistaxis, reddness and swelling of fingers and the dorsum of the hand.

Notes

Drains pathogenic heat, benefits the pharynx, regulates the function of the viscera

L1 4

Location

On the dorsum of the hand, betwen the 1st and 2nd metacarpal bones, approximately in the middle of the 2nd metacarpal bone on the radial side.

Indication

Tetany, facial palsy, pain in head or neck, redness, epistaxis, nasal obstruction, rhinorhhea, toothache, sore throat, parotitis, trismus, febrile diseases with anhidrosis, hidrosis, poor vison, epilepsy in child.

Notes

Disperses wind, relieves the exterior, suppresses pain, regulates stomach & bowels, clears and drains lung-qi.

LU 5

Location

On the radial side of the wrist. When the thumb is tilted upward, it is in the depression between the tendons of m. extensor pollicus longus and brevis.

Indication

Headache, redness, pain and swelling of the eye, toothache, sore throat, pain of the wrist.

Notes

Dispells pathogenic wind, drains fire, disperses pathogenic heat in yangming.

LI 6

Location

With the elbow flexed and the radial side of the arm upward, the point is on the line joining LI 5 and LI 11, 3 cun above LI 5.

Indication

Redness of the eye, tinnitus, deafness, epistaxis, aching of the hand and arm, sore throat, edema.

Notes

Clears lung-qi, regulates body fluid system, opens meridians

LI 7

Location

With the elbow flexed, and the radial side of the arm upward, the point is on the line from LI 5 to LI 11, 5 cun above LI 5.

Indication

Headache, swelling of the face, sore throat, borborygmus, abdominal pain, aching of the shoulder and arm.

Notes

Clears pathogenic heat, regulates bowels

LI 8

Location

On the line Joining LI 5 and LI 11, 8 cun above LI 5. (Or 4 cun below LI 11.)

Indication

Abdominal pain, borborygmus, pain in the elbow and arm, motor impairment of the upper limbs.

Notes

 

LI 9

Location

On the line joining LI 5 and LI 11, 9 cun above LI 5. (or 3 cun below LI 11.)

Indication

Aching of the shoulder and arm, motor impairment of the upper limbs, numbness of the hand and arm, borborygmus, abdominal pain.

LI 10

Location

On the line joining LI 5 and LI 11, 10 cun above LI 5. (or 2 cun below LI 11.)

Indication

Spasmodic pain of arm and elbow, toothache, scrofula, swelling of the cheek, hemaiplagia, diarrhea, indigestion, deviation of the eye and mouth.

Notes

Dispells pathogenic wind, opens collaterals, regulates stomach and benefits bowels.

LI 11

Location

When the elbow is flexed, the point is in the depression at the lateral end of the transverse cubital crease, midway betwen L 5 and the lateral epicondyle of the humerus.

Indication

Sore throat, toothache, redness and pain of the eye, scrofula, urticaria, motion impairment of the upper extremities, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, febrile diseases. Clears the exterior, eliminates wind, cools heat, alleviates dampness, regulates blood.

Notes

Cools heat, eliminates wind & dampness, benefits joints, regulates qi & blood.

LI 12

Location

When the elbow is flexed, the point is superior to the lateral epicondyle of the humerus, about 1 cun supero-lateral to LI 11, on the medial border of the humerus.

Indication

Pain, numbness and contracture of the the elbow and arm.

Notes

 

LI 13

Location

Superior to the lateral epicondyle of the humerus, on the line joining LI 11 and LI 15, 3 cun above LI 11.

Indication

Spasmodic pain of the elbow and arm, spitting of blood, scrofula.

Notes

 

LI 14

Location

Located on line joining LI-11 and LI-15, 7 cun above LI 11 on the radial side of humerus, superior to lower end of m.deltoideus.

Indication

Weakness and pain in the shoulder & arm, rigidity of the neck, eye disease, scrofula.

Notes

Clears the channels and vision.
